The village development center in the village Qumri in the district Berwari Bala is located approximately at the center of the 64 villages that were reconstructed with the help of DhK. It was built with funds from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and with support of the Kurdish regional government. It was inaugurated in 2011.

The aim of building a development center was to have a central site from which the reconstruction of the project region could be supported – by providing advice to the regional farmers, offering trainings, coordinating the activities of different stakeholders in the project region and by improving the village infrastructure.

Scholarship program successfully continued in 2022

Many applications, laborious selection:
The program was published in two rounds: The first round produced 613 applications, the second round with additional questions 73 applications. Finally, 14 new female and 26 new male scholars could be selected. 8 scholars will continue for another year. Altogether the program is now supporting 48 scholars.
DhK thanks our local team for their great commitment.
We wish our new scholars successful studies and a bright professional career!

After July 2014 half a million people fled to Northern Iraq seeking a life in security and support. To this crisis DhK responded with a call for support to its members and friends and was able to provide the urgently needed help after only few weeks.

Donor information_2014 (in German only).

This section is currently available only in German. Thank you for your understanding.
